Empowering Young Athletes Through Football

This Camp will focus on teaching the fundamentals of tackle football (i.e., blocking and tackling), focusing on skills that every aspiring young football player needs to know in order to succeed on the field. The Camp's goal is to help foster teamwork, discipline, and a love for the game within a supportive environment.

The Camp will be led by Kenny Vaccaro, who played 8 seasons in the NFL (New Orleans Saints and Tennessee Titans – retiring from the NFL in December 2021), and played college football at the University of Texas at Austin. Other coaches will include high school and middle school tackle football coaches from the greater Austin area. Goal is to have no more than a 10-1 ratio (10 players for every one coach).

Tackle Football Fundamentals Camp

Team Building

Our youth Camp focuses on teaching the essential tackle football skills (i.e., blocking and tackling, while rotating through all positions on offense and defense), fostering teamwork, and building confidence in young athletes, ensuring they have a solid foundation for future success in the sport.

Fundamental Skills

Every football player needs to learn the fundamentals of blocking and tackling (e.g., a wide receiver needs to know how to block, and needs to know how to tackle if the ball is intercepted), which includes proper feet and body placement, aim, applying force and using leverage. As a result, a majority of this Camp will be devoted to training Campers on these blocking and tackling fundamentals.

And too, because it is not certain which positions a Camper will ultimately play in 7th grade or high school, for example, all Campers will learn the fundamentals of every position by rotating through all offensive and defensive positions. To this point, certain camp days will be devoted to position-specific football skill development (e.g., WR routes, catching, QB reads and progressions, OL footwork and hand placement, RB footwork and ball security, DBs back pedaling, DL pass-rush, LB run fits/coverage and drops, etc.).

All Campers must have their own gear, which includes: (i) helmet, (ii) shoulder pads, (iii) padded football pants, (iv) cleats, and (v) mouth guard.

The Camp will follow Pop Warner tackle football guidance, and therefore, Campers will spend no more than 30 minutes per day within "thud" or "live action" contact. Use of air, bags and "control" will be employed for the remainder of the Camp, all while the Camper remains in full pads. Additionally, a certified trainer or EMT will be on site as a safety precaution.

Eligibility for the Camp is limited to youth who will enter 7th Grade and below in the Fall of 2025.
